Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 26, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how TabHalo ("TabHalo," "the App," "we," "our," or "us") handles information when you use the TabHalo iPhone app and the TabHalo claim page. TabHalo is designed to help restaurant groups split a receipt by item, tax, tip, included gratuity, service fee, and payer.

1. Information TabHalo Handles

Depending on how you use TabHalo, the App may handle the following information:

2. How TabHalo Uses Information

TabHalo uses information to:

3. Claim Links and QR Codes

When an organizer creates a TabHalo claim link or QR code, TabHalo stores a temporary claim session using Google Firebase/Firestore. The session may include receipt line items, prices, tax, tip, service fee amounts, organizer payment contact details, guest names or phone numbers entered on the claim page, and pending or paid status. These sessions are created so multiple guests can claim items from the same bill and so the organizer can sync the claim status back to the iPhone app.

Anyone with the claim link may be able to view the receipt claim page. Do not share a claim link with people who should not see the receipt details.

4. Payments

TabHalo is not a bank, money transmitter, payment processor, or payment settlement service. The App only prepares amounts, notes, links, and payment contact details. Payments are completed outside TabHalo through third-party services selected by the user, such as Apple Cash, Venmo, Zelle, PayPal, Messages, WhatsApp, or a bank app. Those services have their own terms and privacy policies.

TabHalo does not collect payment card numbers, bank account numbers, or payment credentials.

5. Sharing and Service Providers

We do not sell personal information. We do not use personal information for third-party advertising or cross-app tracking. We may use service providers only as needed to operate TabHalo, including Apple services, Google Firebase/Firestore, Firebase Hosting, and the payment or messaging apps that users choose to open from TabHalo.

6. Device Permissions

TabHalo may request camera access to scan restaurant receipts and contacts access when the organizer chooses to add people from the iPhone Contacts app. You can manage these permissions in iOS Settings.

7. Data Retention

Receipt history and payment profile details saved inside the iPhone app remain on the user's device until the user clears or removes them. TabHalo claim sessions are intended for temporary bill splitting and may expire or be deleted. We may retain limited technical records when needed for security, troubleshooting, legal compliance, or service reliability.

8. Your Choices and Deletion Requests

You can clear payment profile details, archive or remove receipt history, and revoke camera or contacts permissions in iOS Settings. If you want to request deletion of claim session data hosted by TabHalo, contact us and include the claim link or enough information for us to identify the session.

9. Children's Privacy

TabHalo is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as TabHalo changes. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
